This week, from 12 to 15 August, Dr Sechaba Maape, architect and senior lecturer at WITS, and also director of the experimental design practice Afreetekture, will visit APG for lectures, workshops, and conversations, made possible through the URC Visiting Lecturers & Visiting Scholars Fund. Dr Maape’s multidisciplinary work spans indigenous knowledge systems, archaeology, neuroscience, art, architecture, and AI.

Dr Maape will be working with the first-year BAS students in the studio, introducing AI mehodologies and tools to help them visualise their designs, he will contribute a lecture to the third-year BAS students in History and Theory of Architecture, and he will also present a School Talk. In addition he might have conversations with a few Masters students.

The first-year workshops, in our studio, will be on Tuesday from 9-1, on Thursday from 9-1, and on Friday from 9-12. The 3rd-year lecture venue is unfortunately already a bit full _ but please feel welcome attend the School Talk, Culture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, at 14:00 on Thursday in the Pink Room. You are also  invited to stay after  the School Talk to meet and have a chat with Dr Sechabe Maape.
