Dr Adli Peck
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, with a background in Chemistry and Solid-State Physics.
While scientific research is a core strength, my passion is problem-solving using critical and lateral thinking which I have exemplified throughout my postgraduate research. I am also inclined to pattern-recognition which, along with my cognitive abilities, have allowed me to acquire a wide range of knowledge acumen across multidisciplinary fields.
My experience in transitioning from the fields of chemistry to solid-state physics and thereafter to chemical engineering has made me well-adept at learning new fields of knowledge under pressure. My specific areas of expertise are energy, petrochemicals and chemicals industry; however, I have extensive experience in project management, data analysis and research.
Alongside my studies I have been actively involved in community and social development projects, taking on several leadership roles. I have a keen interest in developing underprivileged youth with key skills and knowledge that will enable poverty alleviation for the next generation.
Project management is a critical skill required for both masters and doctoral research which (along with my experience in community development) I have consistently striven to perfect. I am versatile working within a team and more than competent in my own discretion. The numerous challenges I have faced in my personal, scientific and voluntary capacity has strengthened my resilience and afforded me the ability to list all possible solutions to a problem before working towards the optimal outcome.
