Dr Shaista Ali

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Biography:

Dr. Shaista Ali is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Catalysis Institute, Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Cape Town under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Eric Van Steen. Her work focuses on Methane oxidation using Platinum group metals (PGM) catalyst and its deactivation study. The work also focuses on role of different support in catalyst performance and deactivation.

She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from Government College University Lahore, Pakistan in 2019 with research focuses on Lanthanide doped strontium molybdates and their Applications in Photocatalysis. During PhD research she was awarded with International Research Support Initiative Program (IRSIP) fellowship for theoretical and computational research in University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada. 

She has expertise in synthesis of nanomaterials, characterization and applications in various fields. She published 5 books and chapters and authored 34 research publications with Impact factor of 84 and have 13 h-index.
