Francois van Schalkwyk

Francois has more than 10 years of experience in the field of electrochemical hydrogen conversion technologies, specialising in component- and material design, product development and process engineering. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt engineer and holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. He is co-inventor of a number of HySA Catalysis’ catalyst and MEA technologies from his time at Mintek (2011-2017). He continued to add MEA inventions and optimise manufacturing and business processes while at HyPlat (2017-2024) as Head of Operations and Engineering, before joining HySA Catalysis in 2024 as Key Technology Specialist in the fuel cell group.
