Covid-19 disrupted a lot of things this year, and one of the casualties was a much-anticipated visit to the UK of Prof. Alphose Zingoni (at the invitation of the IASS:International Association of Shell and Spatial Structures) to present his work at their annual symposium of 2020. Organised by the Space Structures Research Centre of the University of Surrey (Guildford, UK), the IASS 2020 Symposium has been postponed to next year, and will now be held as IASS 2021.   

As a prelude to the IASS 2021 Symposium, the organisers have instituted a “Movers & Shakers” series of interviews featuring leading players in the field of shell and space structures from around the world. Alphose Zingoni, Professor of Structural Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Cape Town, was interviewed for this series (remotely via Zoom) on 21 October 2020.
