2019 AfRES Conference

The 19th annual African Real Estate Society Conference took place from the 10-13th September in Arusha, Tanzania. The conference hosted 300 delegates from over 24 countries from around the world and was the best attended AfRES conference to date. The theme for this year's conference was: "Developing New Frontiers for the African Real Estate Sector" and the Urban Real Estate Research Unit played a significant role in contributing to the conference theme.

The Urban Real Estate Research Unit delivered presentations on research conducted within the fields of Smart City Development in Africa, Big Data and Real Estate, New Real Estate Curriculums for Africa, and How to Publish an Academic Article in a Journal. The unit also had the opportunity to hold a discussion around the Journal of African Real Estate Research and consider some of the challenges and opportunities for the development of the journal.

The conference was a great success and highlighted the world leading thought leadership that is taking place in terms of real estate on the African continent. The next AfRES Conference will be held in Zambia in September 2020.
