Ms Genevieve Moss, Ms Ziba Rajan, and Dr Rhiyaad Mohamed represented HySA/Catalysis in a stakeholder workshop on electrolyser technologies for the generation of green hydrogen in South Africa, co-hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). The workshop was the culmination of a UNCTAD pilot project designed to inform policy and action for the implementation of new technologies in developing countries by deepening stakeholder engagement and understanding of the social, political, and scientific aspects of technology adoption. By contributing their expertise to the Technology Assessment Report and Action Plan, Ms Moss, Ms Rajan, and Dr Mohamed helped to clarify the scientific nuances and complexities of electrolyser technologies within South Africa’s policymaking landscape. Ms Rajan gave a presentation to share the role of HySA/Catalysis in the research, development, and scale-up of catalysts and electrodes for water electrolysis using South African-developed skills, expertise and capabilities.
