CeBER focuses its research on developing sustainable bioprocesses for novel bioproducts, enhanced routes to resource efficiency and remediation, routes for value from waste and, most importantly, socially responsible process solutions through engaging nature inspired bioprocesses. Our approach is centred on the fundamental tenets of biokinetics, bioreactor design, bioprocess analysis and an understanding of metabolic processes. This is underpinned by expertise in process development through flowsheeting, decision making, techno-economics & environmental assessment, bioprocess design, modelling and simulation, as well as exploring the relationship between microbial community dynamics of key mixed culture processes and its impact on process performance and resilience.
