Microscopy preparation facility

The Centre for Materials Engineering contains a comprehensive microscopy preparation facility. The microscopy preparation facility contains the necessary apparatus for preparation of specimens for optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The facility includes the following apparatus:

- Cutoff wheel for metallography sectioning

- Two Struers microslice diamond cutoff wheels for metallography sectioning

- Struers compression hotmounter

- Cold mounting facilities

- Grinding wheels

- Two Struers automatic polishers

- Fumehood for etching practices

- TEM sample punch
