Faaiqa Hartley

Faaiqa Hartley is an economist, whose research has centered on developmental issues in Africa, primarily South Africa and the Southern African region. She is currently employed as a Scientist at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and is studying toward her PhD in Economics at the University of Cape Town. Faaiqa has more than 15 years of experience in policy development and analysis. She is proficient in partial and economy-wide modelling techniques, having worked both with the IFPRI International Model for Policy Analysis of Agricultural Commodities and Trade model and the South African General Equilibrium model. She also has experience in using linked and integrated assessment modelling frameworks and works with the ESRG team on the linked energy-economic model. Her current research areas include the adaptation and use of partial and general equilibrium models to understand and quantify the economic trade-offs and implications of agriculture, energy, and climate change policy.
