Background
Stefan attained his Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Stellenbosch University in 2011, after which he joined Anglo American Platinum in 2012. He was first stationed at the Precious Metals Refinery where his area of responsibility was the effluent treatment and utilities plant. Later he joined the metallurgical team at Waterval UG2 Concentrator. Stefan completed the Anglo American Platinum Graduate Development Program (AGDP) in 2014 and was awarded top graduate for his cohort. Stefan joined the Centre for Minerals Research at the University of Cape Town as a Senior Scientific Officer in 2014. Since then he has been involved in several industrial comminution and flotation circuit campaigns and optimisation studies. He also forms part of the team from UCT which coordinates and delivers the mineral processing content of the AGDP to new graduates at Anglo American Platinum. Stefan`s research focus is on the froth zone in flotation, he completed his MSc is 2018 and is currently completing his PhD in this field.
