Dr Robert Pott wins regional finals of Young Person’s World Lecture Competition

Every year the IOM3 hold an international Young Person’s World Lecture Competition which is open to students and graduates in science and engineering aged 28 or under. The aim is to create a supportive atmosphere for young people in a variety of disciplines ranging from Minerals to Wood Science to compete and improve their presentation skills while lecturing to a technically educated audience. This year CeBER’s very own postdoctoral fellow, Dr Robert Pott, won the regional final held in Gauteng in June and went on to represent UCT at the South African finals held in Port Elizabeth later in the month. This was a sterling accomplishment and a fitting acknowledgement of one of our finest young lecturers and postdocs.
In addition to this accolade, Dr Pott also deserves congratulations on another front. On the 10th August 2014, he and dance partner Liza Martens, won the Novice and Above section of the UCT Ballroom Society's Intervarsity competition. This is the highest level that one can compete at in this competition and is a fantastic achievement. Well done on your recent series of successes Dr Pott and thank you for doing us proud!
