Gordon Dodge: Filippi Spirit Award Finalist 2016

Gordon Dodge, CeBER PhD Student, has been selected as a finalist for the 2016 Filippi Spirit Award. This award is presented to student rowers who demonstrate the core values of rowing in all faculties of their lives - academic, sporting & otherwise - and through these, encourage success in the lives of others. Gordon adds this prestigious nomination to a list of other recent accolades, including the Service to Sport Award for excellent contributions to UCT Sport. Gordon has been a member of UCT Rowing Club’s first team since 2011 and in that time has coxed many teams to success at the South African Senior Rowing Championships and the Universities Boat Race.
It is Gordon's passion for rowing, water and the environment, that led him to CeBER, where he is pursuing research in the field of water remediation. In this context, he aspires to develop and offer environmentally-sustainable solutions and practices for water management within South Africa and beyond.
