The countdown to the much anticipated football clash between CoMSIRU postgrads and their fourth year counterparts finally came to a successful end on the 16th October, 2013. Despite the vast pool of talent and experience of the fourth years, CoMSIRU, with minimum effort, humbled the opposing team with a 3 goals to 2 win.

As early as the first few minutes of the match, super-striker Philemon Arito had the 4th years trembling in their soccer boots with a marvellous run towards their goal that saw him unfortunately missing just to the right post after having cleverly beaten the goal keeper. Further bursts of speed in the midfield saw talented midfielder Rodney Kayonga and defender Thabiso Dladla combining nicely to emphatically announce that they meant real business. This led to a corner kick and long ball into the opposing penalty area which our viciously attacking midfielder Gavin Golden brilliantly headed  past the 4th years keeper to the back of the net. The first goal was as easy as that!

As the game progressed, Nick Bester, Moses Kiliswa, John Kamara, Yorm Amesu and supporting team-mates continued to work hard through the entire match, from creating open chances for others to defending fearlessly when needed. However, the 4th years took advantage of a momentary lapse in concentration after substitutions and managed to score a consoling goal.

But more hard work from the CoMSIRU team, despite an unflinching referee, and Philemon Arito added to his tally with two more spectacular goals that made up for his earlier miss and showed the 4th years who was boss. Spectators wondered if the match would end in a draw when the 4th years grabbed one back with a few minutes left on the clock. But CoMSIRU stood firm and held on for yet another sweet victory in the annual CoMSIRU-4th years' clash.
