Emphatic win for CoMSIRU warriors
However, with encouragement from the colourful cheering squad, they regained their usual confidence and soon started playing with purpose and discipline. Their efforts soon resulted in a stunning goal when Olukayode cunningly dribbled past an opponent and squared towards Zaahir who, with surgical accuracy, tapped it past the goalie and scored for 1-0.
But that was not all for the first half. Minute after minute, CoMSIRU continued to apply pressure on the opposing side with deft passing, swift runs and scintillating crosses in the midfield from Hans Beushausen, Michael Loseby, Yorm Amesu and Gavin Golden. These eventually paid dividend when Patrick Bukenya got hold of the ball from Nicholas Bester and cleverly sneaked it passed the right goal post, with deceptive ease, to make it 2-0.
In the second half, tactical substitutions such as Molefe Tsoana, Philbert Habimana, John Kamara and Rodney Kayonga by team manager Kabani Matongo, meant the team was hungry for more goals. The fourth year team also seemed invigorated by the break and were back with a vengeance, improving their attacking and defence. However, maybe with their thoughts still on the exams and decisions about the future, they continued to fall short as they lacked concentration and easily lost the ball. CoMSIRU were merciless and punished them once more, with Molefe making a superb run and shot for a wonder goal, after a cross from the ever industrious Thabiso Dladla.
Soon after that, Rodney made up for a few missed chances with a strike, that would have made Lionel Messi envious, to make it an unassailable 4-0 lead. However, with the very last kick of the match, the fourth years scored a goal that truth be told the keeper would have done more with had it not been their first shot on goal. The fourth years could only find consolation in the hope that they too may one day be part of the mighty CoMSIRU warriors!
