Biography:
After completing a BSc in Chemical Engineering from UCT Caitlin spent two years in industry working in the field of wastewater treatment and biogas production. She then returned to UCT to complete and MSc in Water Quality Engineering, which was then upgraded to a PhD. After completing her doctorate in 2022, Caitlin joined the Chemical Engineering department as lecturer. Caitlin is part of the transdisciplinary Future Water Institute and co-founder of the innovative UCT start-up Pee-cycling which develops technologies to recover nutrients form human urine. Her research focuses on resource recovery from wastewater, non-sewered sanitation, and membrane technologies.
