Biography:

Kalpana holds a BSc and MSc in chemical engineering from the University of Cape Town. Her MSc project focused on biological remediation of surface waters polluted from informal settlements for reuse in domestic and agricultural settings. Kalpana is passionate about sustainability and water resource management and has worked as a sustainability consultant as well as a water quality expert before returning to UCT to pursue her PhD and join the department as a lecturer. Her PhD research focuses on pharmaceutical contamination of surface waters and potential remediation measures.
