Biography:

I joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2016 after having taught hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical engineering specialisation courses in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) for a period of 2 years. I have 3 years industrial experience as a Metallurgical Engineer in a global iron and steel making company. I hold a BSc.Eng and MSc.Eng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. I recently completed my PhD which specifically considered water quality in froth flotation. I have supervised to completion a number of final year (BTech) Metallurgical Engineering (Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy) projects at the VUT, final year BSc.Eng in Chemical Engineering research projects and Master’s students at the UCT. I have published articles in internationally recognised journals and have contributed in international and local conferences. My current research activities and interests relate to the consideration of closed water circuits within minerals processing, from milling, flotation through to thickening and filtration of flotation products; and the extraction of value from mineral and metallurgical process waste streams through mineral processing and extractive metallurgical methods.
