Biography:
Rhiyaad is a senior researcher officer and serves as the key technology specialist for electrolysis within the Department of Science and Innovation's Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) Catalysis Programme. One of the first PhD graduates of the HySA Catalysis Centre of Competence, specialising in electrocatalysis and electrochemical engineering, he spearheaded the establishment of the Electrolysis Research Group at UCT. His research is focused on understanding the critical electrochemical processes in to facilitate the rational design of advanced materials and components for electrolysers. Additionally, he is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers, supervising several postgraduate student and research staff projects in the Catalysis Institute, Department of Chemical Engineering.
