In the fourth year of the BSc(Eng) degree, undergraduate students undertake a research project, referred to as a Final-Year Project. This project is the culmination of all that the students have learned in the Mechanical Engineering degree and requires students to source new information outside of the traditional instruction mode and plan a project such that it solves a challenge from one of the areas comprising Mechanical Engineering.

BISRU, through the Department of Mechanical Engineering, offers a wide range of projects spanning pertinent research areas that can be undertaken as Final-Year Projects. Undergraduate students who take on BISRU projects are granted access to the BISRU Lab for the duration of the year, which includes access to:

Additionally, undergraduates are encouraged to interact with and learn from the postgraduate students, so as to create a collaborative environment where past research feeds future research.

Examples of past undergraduate projects may be found here.
