CeBER Research Day 2014
CeBER members at the Sports Science Institute for the Centre's annual Research Day.
Ground-breaking research, gourmet food and bottom-less coffee were the order of the day at this year’s annual CeBER Research Day. Held at the prestigious Sports Science Institute in Newlands on the 1st of September 2014, the organisers Bronwyn White, Qubekani Ngulube and Matthew Burke executed the day with ease as the Centre flowed through four research-grouped presentation sessions and carefully timed tea intermissions with poster demonstrations. This year CeBER were privileged to have both an address by the Dean of EBE as well as an inspired exchange with guest speaker Dr Kit Vaughan who shared ten lessons that he has learned in commercialising university intellectual property. Prizes went to Dr Robert Pott for best speaker, Catherine Edwards for best poster and Alexey Cherkaev for best questions. Once again the day ended in good cheer as Brewing UCT treated CeBER to an informal tasting of their highly acclaimed beer and award-winning cider. Many thanks to the organising committee and all of the helpers and contributors who guaranteed the success of the day.
