'Science Oscars' award for Professor Alison Lewis

Congratulations to Dean of Engineering & the Built Environment, Professor Alison Lewis, who was awarded the NSTF-South32’s Engineering Research Capacity Development Award on 27 June 2019 for her outstanding contribution to science, engineering, technology and innovation in South Africa.

The award recognised Professor Lewis’s contribution as director of the UCT Crystallization and Precipitation Research Unit (CPU) for her training, nurturing and mentoring of students. She has supervised a total of 44 PhD and MSc graduates over the last 10 years and has co-authored 52 published international journal articles with postgraduate students.
