A significant component of the material produced by mining ends up as mine waste. Likewise, even the refined minerals and metals that mining produce often end up in landfills once the products they were used for have reached the end of their useful lives. Waste is produced at every step of the material value chain and is often associated with negative environmental and social impacts. This research thrust aims to minimise the production of waste by considering ways of reusing mine waste and recycling e-waste.
