Progress in terms of technology and energy infrastructure requires increasingly specialised materials to be produced from a wider range of elements than before. South Africa needs to maximise local opportunities for the production of these minerals, metals and materials. This necessitates research into processing strategic minerals and the value chains that their products feed into.
