The Minerals to Metals initiative was established in 2007 to serve as an inter- and transdisciplinary research, education and engagement platform to support a sustainable and socially responsible minerals sector, specifically within, but also beyond, Africa.
The MtM Initiative is able to harness deep technical expertise through its position in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCT, while maintaining an ability to apply knowledge across contexts through its wide network of partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration, both nationally and internationally. Thus, MtM is well positioned to create a platform to build capability and develop future leaders and so contribute to Africa’s sustainable development.
