A/Prof Niyi Isafiade

Anenyi Isafiade brings expertise in chemical plant safety analysis (HAZOP, HAZAN), and is leading the research into mine safety. He was primary supervisor of MSc student Jude Bonsu (completed), and is currently primary supervisor of Daniel Mabeti and Clive Mwansa, both registered for the MPhil programme in Sustainable Minerals Resource Development.

Prof Patricia Kooyman

UCT

Formerly in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands, Patricia Kooyman now holds the SARChI Chair Nano Materials for Catalysis at UCT. Her specialisations include hetero-geneous catalysis structure-activity relationships, focussing on catalyst synthesis and characterisation. She is an expert in transmission electron microscopy characterisation of inorganic materials, which is the relevant expertise for the MtM programme. She co-developed the system for gas-phase atmospheric pressure trans-mission electron microscopy and still works on improving this system and of course using it to advance her structure-activity relationships research. She supervises and co-supervises several MSc and PhD students.
