Biography:
Professor Megan Becker is based in the Centre for Minerals Research in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She has over fifteen years of experience in the field of process mineralogy. She has degrees in both geological sciences and metallurgical engineering. These have more than equipped her for research in the cross disciplinary field of applied and process mineralogy. The central focus of her research activities is the application of mineralogical knowledge for the understanding, optimisation and prediction of key unit processes within the mining industry from both techno-economic and environmental aspects. Through this research she has developed numerous academic and industrial collaborations on projects in geometallurgy, process mineralogy, flotation and comminution, hydrometallurgy, and environmental mineralogy (all aspects of applied mineralogy).
