12th International Conference on the Dynamic Behaviour of Materials (DYMAT)
The 12th International Conference on the Dynamic Behaviour of Materials (DYMAT-2018) was held in Arcachon, France, from 9-14 September 2018. Both Trevor Cloete and Reuben Govender presented papers at this conference, which were well received. The DYMAT conferences have been a fertile ground for networking and building collaborations - former visitors to BISRU who presented at DYMAT-2018 included Dr George T. (Rusty) Gray III, from Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA; Prof. Clive Siviour from Oxford University, UK; and Brodie Macdonald and Huon Bornstein from DSTO, Australia.

The DYMAT organisation has also resolved to make all conference proceeding articles available freely via Open Access. The DYMAT 2018 conference proceedings are hosted by EPJ-Conferences.

The major DYMAT conference is held every three years - the next DYMAT conference will be hosted in Madrid in 2021. In the intervening years, DYMAT will host smaller technical meetings, as well as a "Winter School" in Chamonix, France in early 2020. The Winter School is targeted at (and priced for!) postgraduate students, but is also open to more senior researchers.
