Associate Professor Simon Winberg
BSc(Hons) Cape Town MSc UTK PhD Cape Town
My area of expertise and interest is in computer engineering, with a direction towards high performance embedded computing. I have taught courses in computer architecture, digital systems, software engineering and programming in various languages. My current research areas focuses on FPGA-based reconfigurable computing, embedded systems, quantum computing, high performance computing (HPC) and high performance embedded computing (HPEC), and using these platforms for applications related to image processing, software defined radio, radio astronomy and radar system digital backed processing.
I am also a member of the SA-CERN collaboration under the ALICE Experiment, involved in sensing systems, data collection, and routing related to the user logic.
