Most research groups hold regular internal seminars and workshops. These serve to extend the awareness of current research projects to all the postgraduate students in a group.
Students also gain practice in preparing presentations of their work at conferences and to research clients.
Research groups provide the leadership and facilities for training postgraduate students. They also undertake research contracts in collaboration with industry.
Research funding is received from government agencies like the National Research Foundation, the Technology Innovation Agency, CSIR, and dti’s THRIP programme, as well as under research contracts with industry.
