A-rating for Professor Nurick
Professor Gerald Nurick from the Department of Mechanical Engineering has received an A-rating from the NRF. This rating is awarded to: “researchers who are unequivocally recognised by their peers as leading international scholars in their field for the high quality and impact of their recent research outputs.” This is a high honour indeed.
Professor Nurick has worked in the field of impact dynamics for over twenty years. He was responsible for the establishment of the well-respected and very successful Blast Impact Survivability Research Unit (BISRU), which received accreditation as an official University Research Unit in 2003.
This is a substantial recognition of Professor Nurick’s hard work and commitment to his research. He is due to retire at the end of the 2015 but will be returning to the faculty next year as a Senior Scholar.
