Geoff is a seasoned civil engineer specializing in water treatment applications, with extensive experience in the full lifecycle of water treatment works. He represents both the consulting engineering industry and the institute of Civil Engineers on the advisory board.

He has played a key role in pioneering projects such as the Cape Town Reuse Plant, Meulwater Water Treatment Works (WTW), Lower Thukela WTW, and the Preekstoel Biofilter project. These initiatives challenged conventional design approaches, prioritising operator-centric infrastructure while integrating the latest advancements in water treatment technologies to deliver effective solutions.

Geoff has significant experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams on complex projects. His expertise includes conventional surface waters, groundwater management and water reuse. He is also skilled in wastewater treatment, plant operation, troubleshooting, and optimising existing systems.

His ability to plan and manage large-scale water treatment projects has been honed through his roles as a project manager and design engineer. He trained with the Water Research Group in the civil engineering department at the University of Cape Town, specialising in municipal water and wastewater treatment, and has completed coursework in wastewater treatment and aquatic chemistry.
