
The activities of this interdisciplinary group seeks integrated sustainable solutions to the problems of water management in urban areas, in southern Africa, have now been absorbed into the Future Water research institute.
The overall aim of Future Water is to conduct engaged research on water sensitive approaches that sustain society’s current and future water needs. The institute is driven by the urgent need to enhance capacity for managing water scarcity and building resilience; to innovate so that water supply meets demand; and to ensure technically sound, socially acceptable and sustainable water management policies and practices.
Several Civil Engineering academics form part of the core group of researchers in Future Water, including: A/Prof Kirsty Carden (Interim Director), Prof Neil Armitage (Deputy Director), Dr Theo Harding, A/Prof David Ikumi, Ms Teboho Mofokeng, Dr John Okedi, and A/Prof Dyllon Randall
