Each year, the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment, under the leadership of the Dean, Professor Francis Petersen, organise an HIV testing campaign. The undergraduate and postgraduate student councils support the campaign by actively encouraging students to live positively and know their status.

The Dean said “It is important that as leaders, we have an impact on attitudes and perceptions, and address the stigma that prevents people from ‘living positively.' We want our students to go out into the workplace and be able to contribute towards the transformation of their workplace into an AIDS-competent community.”
