Abbas Jamie has worked for government and private sector and has more than 30 years of experience across the engineering industry from setting up a start-up consulting business to working for a NYSE listed constructor.  He has a broad range of qualifications including Engineering, Business, Futures Studies, Design Thinking and Project Management.  He is passionate about mentoring and is registered as a qualified coach. By overlaying the design process with a futures thinking methodology he promotes an innovation culture that is naturally human centric.

Abbas is the founder of The Innovation Mentor specialising in futures and innovation strategy. He is also the Community liaison Africa for World Design Organisation and founder of the Open Design Afrika festival.  In 2019, he left multinational engineering firm,  Aurecon Group, having held the position of  Director for  Innovation and Transformation from 2015.

He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town in 1988, Diploma in Business Management from Damelin College, Cape Town in 1999 and his PgDip in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 2016. In 2003 and 2006 he obtained a Project Management qualification (Jacobs College, Pasadena) and Certified Master Coach (Behavioural Coaching Institute, London) respectively.
