Dr. Jeanine Engelbrecht has over 10 years of remote sensing and spatial analysis experience.

Her research and development focus has been on exploiting SAR technologies for a variety of applications including geological applications, hydrological applications and engineering geological aspects.

Her Ph.D. research was conducted using traditional and advanced radar techniques for the detection and monitoring of surface subsidence related to mining. The results of her research revealed that operational monitoring of mining-induced deformation using radar techniques was possible, effectively overcoming the limitations of current monitoring systems.

The research resulted in recommendations for the implementation of a long-term operational monitoring system using dInSAR technology and was published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several national and international conferences, workshops and symposiums.
