September 2020: IEEE Radar Conference

It is our great pleasure to announce the forthcoming 2020 IEEE Radar Conference that will take place in Florence from 21 September to 25 September 2020. It was at places only few kilometers away from the conference location that our scientist and engineer forefathers Galileo Galilei and Leonardo da Vinci, respectively, made their groundbreaking discoveries. We are excited to organize the conference for the second time ever in Italy, after the successful edition in Rome in 2008, and in those places where Renaissance opened paths to the birth of modern science, and a new consideration of the role of mankind altogether. This is particularly true in these days that witness an important growth of the many fields of application of radar techniques, in addition to the traditional ones. We do hope many of you will join us in Florence to attend this event. - Fulvio Gini and Maria Greco

April 2020: IEEE Radar Conference

In 2020, the IEEE International Radar Conference returns to Washington DC, an area rich in radar history. Almost 100 years ago,

Albert Taylor and Leo Young observed that ships in the Potomac River interfered with their communications signals. They proposed that this phenomenon be used to detect ships, and a few years later, demonstrated the detection of aircraft. Please join us to meet and share the latest advances in radar across an expanding range of applications and be inspired by the creativity of those following in Taylor and Young’s footsteps. The Washington DC area is steeped in both history and innovation and possesses world-class cultural attractions and an efficient public transport system.

SSSAS5G: 17-19 October 2016

The (Indian) Summer School on Spectrum Aggregation and Sharing for 5G Networks (SSSAS5G) will take place at Eurecom (Campus SophiaTech in Sophia Antipolis, France) from 17 to 19 October 2016.

Spectrum is the key resource for all wireless communications. This workshop will bring together experts from the field of Spectrum Aggregation and Sharing to give an overview of the state-of-the art, to disseminate their latest developments, and to discuss the future of these two technologies and in particular their potential impact on the coming 5G systems.

This workshop is supported and organized by the 3 most important EU-funded projects (ADEL and SOLDER from FP7 and SPEED-5G from H2020) currently working on different aspects of spectrum management, aggregation and sharing technologies.

You can find out more about the event here and download the information brochure here.

RFI 2016: 17-20 October 2016

From 17 to 20 October 2016, the Macey Centre, New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico, will be hosting RFI 2016 – Coexisting with Radio Frequency Interference.

Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) has become a critical issue for many users of the electromagnetic spectrum. This is especially true for observational sciences such as radio astronomy, microwave remote sensing of the Earth, and Solar and ionospheric studies where highly sensitive receivers are necessary.

Following the previous workshops held in Bonn (Germany, 2001), Penticton (Canada, 2004) and Groningen (The Netherlands, 2010), RFI 2016 aims to bring together researchers, engineers and users from all radio science disciplines to consider the impact RFI represents to their respective fields, to develop mitigation strategies, and to foster cooperation and collaboration. Attention will also be given to the impact of new and future sources of RFI, spectrum management aspects, and new technology developments.

Important dates:

  • 01 Jun 2016: Submission of papers
  • 01 Aug 2016: Notification of paper acceptance
  • 15 Sep 2016: Author registration
