Invitation
Whether you are a user, developer, researcher or enthusiast of radar technology:
Join us for the 2015 IEEE Radar Conference – Out of Africa, always something new!
The role of radar is continuously evolving. New and emerging threats including piracy, poaching and asymmetric warfare require more capable radars with improved detection and false target rejection capabilities. Coupled with a dynamic operational environment with increasingly complex clutter and higher target density, this gives rise to the need for radar to constantly improve to meet the demands of military, security and civilian applications. This IEEE conference will focus on innovations in radar that rise to these and other challenges in the radar world.
From 27 to 30 October 2015, the IEEE Radar Conference 2015 – its theme “Out of Africa – always something new” – is taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Background
Both developing and developed nations have growing interest in how radar can assist in the monitoring of large areas for diverse purposes such as border protection, prevention of human trafficking, wildlife preservation, facility protection, and so on. In 2014, South Africa celebrated 75 years of indigenous radar research, development and production.
The first International South African Radar Conference will bring together colleagues from all over the world, and all corners of the radar enterprise, to share, learn, and foster our global community.
The 2015 South African Radar Conference will be hosted in the strategically located Sandton International Convention Centre, Johannesburg. The conference venue is conveniently located near Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport, with a frequent 15 minute high speed train connection to the venue and associated hotels. Johannesburg is a hub with direct air links to the USA (Atlanta, JFK, Washington), Europe (most capital cities), China, Japan, Australia. Be sure to check out all of the activities and sightseeing activities being coordinated on behalf of conference attendees and their companions in one of Africa’s most sophisticated cities, only hours away from excellent wildlife parks.
The IET Transactions on Radar Sonar and Navigation will invite submissions of expanded papers from this conference for a special issue.
